INTERPRETING IMAGES
European Heritage Days 2025
Architectural Heritage: Bridging Past and Future
Byzantine Museum of Veria | 24–27 September 2025
As part of the celebration of European Heritage Days 2025, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Imathia, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada, presents a unique series of artistic events and creative workshops at the Byzantine Museum of Veria, inspired by the exhibition “Interpreting Images” by artists Ricardo Marín Viadel and Asunción Jódar Miñarro, drawing directly from the museum’s own collections.
This innovative artistic approach emerges within the museum itself, engaging the public in participatory ways and reinterpreting cultural heritage through the lens of contemporary art.
Through international collaboration and the blending of diverse artistic and educational traditions, cultural heritage is approached in an inclusive way — with art acting as a bridge between eras, regions, and civilizations.
The program is supported by the Cultural Center of the Region of Central Macedonia.
Educational Activities
Title: Learning Through Images
An experiential workshop for educators of all levels exploring how art and heritage can be used as tools for learning, inspiration, and creative dialogue within the museum space.
Title: Young Creators, Great Works

Creative Presentation & Public Lecture
An open discussion on how contemporary art can engage with, be inspired by, and respectfully reinterpret history and cultural heritage.
The audience is invited to discover how patterns, forms, and symbols from the past inspire fresh artistic approaches.
Recurring elements from traditional icons, mosaics, frescoes, and architectural motifs — inspired by Byzantine art and religious iconography — become the springboard for contemporary creations, showcasing the living continuity of our shared heritage.
